Feeling Good in Your Home

EVERYDAY PROTECTION

Cashmere Chevron, Create ® Collection

We find that, often, different people have very different ideas as to how they want to live with their floor. Some of our customers are happy for their floor to have a natural, lived-in look, whereas others want it to look as pristine as possible. Either way, we recommend a few sensible things to keep your floor looking great.

Rooms that get direct sunlight may need blinds or screens to protect them. Because all Ted Todd floors are made from real wood, it is totally normal to experience some colour shade variation over time. This is caused by a process called oxidation, whereby the tannins in the wood naturally react with oxygen to create some shade change.

Oak is a great choice for limiting pigmentation change, and we would particularly recommend a Ted Todd engineered oak floor for its longevity in rooms exposed to direct sunlight.

Blinds would also help to provide some climate control, particularly in sunny rooms such as conservatories or sun rooms. We recommend that the floor temperature doesn’t exceed 27°C to ensure longevity of a real wooden floor.

Use protective pads to avoid sharp objects damaging your floors – chair and table legs can be sharp, so please protect these using felt pads. (Fig.1)

We also highly recommend using a Ted Todd Floor Care System (page 186-187) for your floor, no matter the room.

We are sure you already know this, but a good entrance mat will help to reduce damage from any small stones or dirt brought in from outside. (Fig.2)

Our Ted Todd floors are more than durable enough for kitchens and bathrooms, just be sure to react to any water spillages quickly and prevent any excess moisture getting to your floor. Make sure the bathroom is well ventilated. When the bath or shower is in use, use a good quality bath mat to ensure that drips and spills are caught.

A wood floor is made of natural materials, and part of its beauty is that it will age, but by using the right floor care your floor will age gracefully. (Fig.3)
